CAKSC members received free Stop the Bleed training from Cleveland Clinic, Akron General instructors on May 8th at the Green Branch Library.
The “Stop the Bleed” campaign was initiated by a federal interagency workgroup convened by the National Security Council Staff, The White House. The purpose of the campaign is to build national resilience by better preparing the public to save lives by raising awareness of basic actions to stop life threatening bleeding following everyday emergencies and man-made and natural disasters.

On May 6th, Canton Akron Safety Council was awarded Safety Council of the Year Honorable Mention at the 2019 Ohio Safety Council Leaders Conference in Columbus, Ohio. On hand to receive the award from BWC, were Steering Committee member Kayley Miller from Gardner Pie, North Canton Area Chamber of Commerce President Doug Lane and Safety Council Manager, Alice Stephens.
Congratulations to all CAK Safety Council member companies who received certificates on April 24th.
–The Group award was given to employers with the lowest incident rate in each group.
– Employers that worked the entire calendar year without an injury or illness resulting in a day away from work received the 100% award.
–Special award went to each employer that accumulated at least 500,000 hours and at least 6 months without an injury or accident resulting in a day away from work
-Each employer that decreased its incident rate by at least 25% from the previous year received the Achievement award.
In honor of OSHA’s “National Stand-Down to Prevent Falls”, the BWC Canton/Cambridge Service Offices are hosting a Safety Council Challenge. We want to encourage every Safety Council member to perform safety training on preventing falls during the month of May. It’s easy!

Due to the staggering increase in trenching accidents across the nation, the Youngstown BWC/Division of Safety and Hygiene, in cooperation with OSHA, the American Society of Safety Professionals Northern Ohio Chapter and other local businesses committed to this subject are conducting a Trenching Safety Day on Wednesday April 3, 2019 at the Avalon Inn & Spa in Warren.
